In Dublinia, you follow in the footsteps of the Vikings and discover what life was like in Dublin City during Medieval times.

Overview

What is Dublinia?

Dublinia is a historical recreation museum and one of the most popular visitor attractions in Dublin City centre. Through models, artefacts, exhibitions and audio-visual displays, Dublinia takes you back into the past and shows student groups how people lived here during the Viking and Medieval periods.

What can your group expect during this experience?

  • Experience what Dublin was like in the past
  • Discover what life was like aboard a Viking warship
  • Learn Viking skills
  • Try on warrior clothes
  • Visit a smoky and cramped Viking house
  • Hear the myths and mysteries surrounding the Vikings
  • Enjoy the interactive stalls in Medieval Village and take photos in the stocks.

Who are the guides?

You are! This is a self-guided experience, so you can take it at your own pace.

Top Tip:

We recommend to download the group leader guide to Dublinia before your visit to ensure you get the most from this experience.

Experience Highlight:

The new audio-visual exhibit that follows the story of one man's life growing up in Mediaeval Dublin is fascinating.

Insider Tips:

Allow some time for dress-up and a heap of photo opportunities. There is a chest full of Viking clothes that student groups can try on.

Christ Church Cathedral is located across the road, so it makes sense to visit these two activities on the same day. Just ask us about our discounted combined ticket for Dublinia and Christ Church Cathedral.

If your group would like to discover more about Medieval History – our group package A Medieval themed tour of Dublin for student groups is the itinerary for you.
