Package 1 of Our Experience Gaelic Games Offer for Groups
This is your group’s chance to experience an authentic part of Irish culture first-hand: take part in our National sports of Gaelic Football, Hurling and Handball with our partner. Based at a local GAA club in Dublin, they will look after your group and give them a fantastic introduction to these sports, which are even more popular than regular football here in Ireland.
The session will start with an introduction to the sports, their rules and the culture surrounding them, supported by lots of video footage. Afterwards, your group will head out to the field, receive a physical introduction to all the skills required and finally play a couple of mini-matches of Gaelic Football and Hurling – Handball is played inside. In case the weather turns bad, all three sports can be played inside as well. With a 10:1 trainer to player ratio, it is ensured that all your group will have fun. And don’t worry if they’re not particularly sporty, for this Gaelic Games session, teamwork and fun are the most important things to bring along.
Special equipment such as hurling sticks will be provided by the organiser, so your group will only need to wear tracksuits and runners and bring a towel if they wish to shower afterwards.
The GAA Club is situated outside the city centre and we recommend your group takes the public buses No 4 or 9. The journey takes approximately 20 minutes to get to the club. Or for your convenience you can book a coach with us to get your group to the club and back.
If your group wants to learn more about the sports’ history and place in Ireland, you can also combine this session with a visit to Croke Park Stadium and the GAA Museum – check out our Experience Gaelic Games Package 2 for more info.
