Travel Tip: Getting from Dublin Airport to City Centre
All routes from Dublin Airport lead you right into the heart of the city centre (location of Celtic Hostels): choose from the Airlink,
Aircoach, public city bus or taxi.
Buses are by far the cheapest option; when you arrive at Dublin airport, various buses are located outside the main arrival hall doors.
Airlink Express Bus (Dublin Bus Routes 747 & 748)
Routes operate between the following times, at 10/20 minute intervals:
747- Mon – Sat: 05h40 – 23h30, Sunday: 07h15 – 23h30
748 – Mon –Sat: 07h15 – 22h10, Sunday: 07h50 – 22h50
Tickets: €6 single / €10 return, €3 / €5 for under 16s.
Aircoach
Aircoach operates 24 hours a day at 10/20 minute intervals (hourly between 0h30 and 04h30).
As well as Dublin City centre, Aircoach also serves suburbs such as Ballsbridge and Leopardstown – check their website for routes and fares.
Tickets: €7 single / €12 return
Public City Bus: Route 16A / 41, 41A, 41B, 41C
Public commuter buses also serve Dublin Airport, running approximately every 20 minutes.
16A: Mon – Sat: 06h50 – 23h10, Sunday: 07h40 – 22h20
41s: Mon-Sat: 06h25 – 23h30, Sunday: 07h30- 23h15.
Normal Dublin fares apply (€2.30 adult). Exact fare in coins is needed for the bus, as change is not given back and notes are not accepted.
All of these bus options leave you directly five minutes’ walk or less from your Celtic Hostel.
By Taxi: Taxis are available from the forecourt on the Arrivals level. The approximately cost of a taxi to the city centre €35 (however this depends on traffic and the time of the day).
Travelling in a Group?
For up to 25 persons, public transport is still the best and most affordable option. However, any more than that can get tricky, co-ordinating luggage, travelling together and so on.
For larger groups, we recommend booking private bus transfers, where your coach driver will meet with you in the arrivals hall of Dublin airport, escort you to your very own private bus and pack in your luggage, so you guys can sit back and relax and enjoy the short journey into Dublin City Centre. Private buses are also handy for getting to and from early morning / late night flights, as the frequency of the public bus routes is limited.
We can secure great rates on private bus transfers, and right now we’re offering a further 20% discount on coaches.
As if that weren’t enough – we have also negotiated for groups booking with Celtic Hostels a return Airlink ticket for the price of a single i.e. €6 return – so give us a call for the cheapest, smoothest ride into Dublin city centre!
Happy Easter!!
