It’s back -Tradfest 2014 is here !!
Now in its eighth Year, Tradfest 2014 is back once again to fill the streets of Dublin with its traditional tunes and Irish Culture. The five day festival is jam-packed with events and concerts, many of which are free. Read on to get our top Tradfest tip and for the lowdown on the event we attended last night…
What’s Tradfest 2014 ?
For those of you who aren’t familiar Tradfest, it quite simply means traditional festival, where singers and locals come together to celebrate all that is Irish. From the 22nd to the 26th a whole host of exciting events and sounds will be pouring out of the pubs and venues around Dublin’s Temple Bar. From performances by top artists to a petting zoo, it’s all happening and a must see for anyone who wants to experience real Irish culture.
Inside scoop on Eleanor McEvoy gig…
We here at Celtic Group Hostels were lucky enough to nab two tickets to see Dublin’s very own, Eleanor McEvoy perform at St. Michan’s last night. Wow!
The magnificent church was the perfect backdrop for the intimate gig. Eleanor didn’t disappoint and not only wowed the audience with her superb voice, but also entertained everyone with her charming whit and playful sense of humour. Her set included songs old and new and she even did an exclusive cover of ‘Hey good looking’ by Hank Williams.
What to expect for the rest of the weekend…
Other Irish and international stars will be gracing the stages (and floors) of over 40 venues around Temple Bar over the next few days, including names such as Melo M, Frances Black, Johnny Duhan and many more.
