Breathe Fresh Irish Air in This Award-Winning Garden

Overview

Situated in the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains, just 20km south of Dublin, lies one of the world’s greatest gardens – they were even recently voted No. 3 in the World’s Top Ten Gardens by National Geographic.

Powerscourt House and Gardens were established in the 1740s and are spread out over 20 hectares. Visitors can immerse themselves in the sublime blend of formal gardens, sweeping terraces, statuary and ornamental lakes with secret hollows, rambling walks, walled gardens and over 200 varieties of trees and shrubs. The splendid Italian and Japanese gardens serve as windows to the Mediterranean and Far-Eastern countries they originate from.

Powerscourt House itself offers a variety of shopping opportunities for gifts, clothing and even furniture as well as a cafe for a relaxing cup of coffee.

Powerscourt Waterfall is Ireland's largest with 121m in height, located 6km away from the main estate. The site offers gorgeous views up to the Wicklow Mounatins and a serene lake.

February 2018 also saw the opening of the Cool Planet Experience climate change science centre at Powerscourt - a non-profit organisation that promotes education on climate change through workshops all over Ireland.

Also located within the Wicklow Mountains, our tourist groups love to visit Glendalough - the Valley of Two Lakes before Powerscourt as a combined day trip with their own bus. The Monastic Site offers ruins to explore and are surrounded by hiking trails of varying difficulty.
