Discover Local Artisan Goods

Overview

According to an Irish proverb, “laughter is brightest where food is best”. This is proven at one of Cork’s greatest attractions and Ireland’s oldest indoor food market, the English Market. Popular with both locals and tourists, the market provides local artisans a place to sell their products and customers a well curated space to shop for high-quality food.

It is not only highly regarded for its food, but also for the charming architecture. The English Market’s iconic look was almost ruined by a fire in 1980. However, extensive refurbishment efforts have been able to restore the Victorian architecture in remarkable detail.

If your group is visiting Cork only on a daytrip and has no kitchen available, there are restaurants within and around the market supplied by its traders, so you can still savour some of its goods.

In addition to food, you can also browse crockery, clothes, art and all kinds of novelty items at the market – you certainly will not be bored here!

Take in more of Cork’s sights on a walking tour of the city centre, exploring the city’s culture and heritage of the Republic’s second largest city.
