Doolin Cave in West Ireland (Co Clare)

Overview

Doolin Cave is one of the best kept secrets of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. This family run attraction is home to the largest stalactite in the Northern Hemisphere! It truly is a wonder of nature.

As visitors embark on their adventure over 80 metres under the Burren landscape they will learn the fascinating history of the cave discovery and development as well as how the Burren landscape was formed.

The highlight of the tour comes when visitors are plunged into primitive darkness for a moment before the light is flicked back on to reveal the Great Stalactite.

There is also a Farmland Nature Trail around the site which includes looped-walks, native farm animals, stone features and also access to the original cave entrance, first discovered in 1952.

In 2013 and 2015 Doolin Cave received the prestigious gold award from eco-tourism Ireland for standards of excellence in sustainable tourism. They are also members of the Burren Eco-Tourism Network.
