We are so excited here in Celtic Group Hostels – the Autumn Festival season is just around the corner! It’s one of our favourite (and busiest!) times of the year. There are so many festivals in Ireland taking place across the country; you will be spoilt for choice. So where to start? Read on for more.


During Autumn Ireland comes alive with music, dance, food and culture. During this season festivals across the country display the best that Ireland has to offer – so this is a perfect time to visit. At a glance, here are our top recommendations:

 

Dublin Fringe Festival: 5th – 22nd September
A multi-disciplinary festival showcasing new work by Irish and International artists. A diverse mix of cultural delights, head over to see the best from upcoming artists.

 

Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival: Events across September
Europe’s oldest matchmaking festival returns with matchmaker Willie Daly working his magic as hundreds of people flock to the small town in search of love.

 

Culture Night: 20th September
Across Ireland you can explore and visit a range of brilliant cultural locations. Organisations and arts open their doors late into the evening with hundreds of free events.

 

Arthur’s Day: 26th September
Every year in Ireland at 17:59 26th September, in honour of Arthur Guinness, patrons raise a glass of the black stuff. Witness a host of live music from international names who will make surprise visits to local pubs across Ireland.

 

Dublin Theatre Festival: 26th September – 13th October
An 18 day celebration of the best of Irish and international theatre in Dublin with a range of performances, workshops and more.

 

Cork Jazz Festival: 25th – 28th October
A weekend of all styles of Jazz at a festival which has been host to many national and international musicians.
